Virtustream, the enterprise-class cloud software and services provider, today announced that the H.J. Heinz Company, one of the world’s leading marketers and producers of healthy, convenient and affordable foods, has implemented Virtustream’s xStream platform to deploy a platform-as-a-service (PaaS) infrastructure and run production SAP HANA in the cloud.

Heinz faced challenges integrating the disparate sources of data running across its high number of on-premises business intelligence platforms. They needed a single, flexible solution capable of providing granular, real-time visibility into company performance across all of that data to allow Heinz to boost efficiency and sales. Heinz looked to the cloud for its flexibility and cost-saving potential, and selected Virtustream over several other enterprise cloud services and software vendors for its unique expertise with complex SAP HANA deployments, as well as its consumption-based billing model.

“We needed a way to more quickly process information in greater detail, and the cloud offered a simple way to manage this on a global scale,” said Davor Brkovich, Director, Global Technology Operations at H.J. Heinz. “Working with Virtustream enabled us to seamlessly and securely deploy a unified business intelligence platform across offices in more than 40 countries. We now have greater visibility into key performance trends, the ability to identify problem areas and quickly optimize sales strategies by data across multiple local markets.”

Virtustream specializes in the migration of mission critical applications to the cloud, helping enterprises such as Heinz to enhance the capabilities of their IT environments. As Heinz’s first foray into cloud, Virtustream was able to roll out SAP HANA across the company’s global architecture ahead of schedule, enabling them to quickly take full advantage of the high-performance platform.

“The cloud offers global organizations like Heinz the ability to align IT operations with business goals,” said Rodney Rogers, Chairman and CEO, Virtustream. “With an integrated view across their business and the ability to rapidly analyze performance data in the cloud, Heinz will see not only see significant cost savings in the cloud, but they will also realize revenue-driving potential in their PaaS infrastructure.”

Virtustream xStream leverages its micro-VMTM (µVM) technology to provide application performance SLAs, multi-tenant efficiency, and a consumption-based pricing model for both legacy (SAP, Oracle, Microsoft, etc.) and modern web-scale applications. Virtustream unveiled their SAP HANA Managed Service last year when the company went live with the first ever SAP ECC production HANA system in its cloud.
