It is a tradition in southern China’s Guangdong Province to hold flower fairs before the Chinese New Year, where people purchase typical New Year flowers such as tangerine trees, peach blossoms, Chinese daffodils and other plants, as well as New Year couplets, to decorate their homes. Flower fairs are particularly popular in Guangzhou, Foshan and Zhongshan cities, among which the Guangzhou New Year’s Eve Flower Fair is the largest.

Guangzhou New Year’s Eve Flower Fair will be held along the major roads of the city’s 11 districts, along with a special floating flower market characteristic of Guangdong’s waterside towns in the Lychee Bay.

Apart from flower fairs, Guangdong’s tourist destinations featuring spring flowers include The World of Flowers in Chencun, Shunde, and the Million Sunflower Garden in Guangzhou, as well as cherry blossom parks in Zhongshan and Shaoguan and peach blossom parks in Shantou and Zhaoqing.
