Joining dozens of other governors and hundreds of city and county leaders nationwide, Gov. Scott Walker has officially proclaimed Jan. 21-27 School Choice Week in Wisconsin.

Wisconsonians have planned 563 events and activities for the week to celebrate educational opportunity and spark conversations about the options parents have, or want to have, for their children.

This year, more than 32,000 independently planned school choice events and activities will take place nationwide across all 50 states. Events include rallies, roundtable discussions, coffeehouse meet-ups, festivals, school fairs, and more.

“Wisconsin has been a pioneer in the school choice movement, and we applaud the Badger State for providing so many educational options for parents,” said Andrew Campanella, president of National School Choice Week. “We’re happy that Gov. Walker has issued this proclamation. We’re excited to see such enthusiasm for educational opportunity in Wisconsin, and celebrate with parents in Wisconsin and across the country.”

Held every January, National School Choice Week is an independent, nonpartisan, nonpolitical public awareness effort designed to shine a positive spotlight on effective education options for every child. Through thousands of independently planned events across the country, National School Choice Week raises public awareness of all types of educational choices available to children. These options include traditional public schools, public charter schools, public magnet schools, online learning, private schools, and homeschooling.
