As Futurpreneur Canada prepares for its 20th anniversary later this year, the entrepreneurial-minded non-profit is dedicating its annual Action Entrepreneurship initiative to celebrating and connecting Canada’s entrepreneurial community with a series of regional and national events.
Futurpreneur is a national non-profit that supports people aged 18-39 who are interested in starting their own business. In addition to providing business planning resources, financing and mentoring, Futurpreneur engages the entrepreneurial community to help aspiring, new and established business owners succeed in a fully supportive Canada.
This year marks the third year that Futurpreneur has hosted Action Entrepreneurship, and builds on the previous years’ success, which hosted over 2000 young entrepreneurs, business leaders and other stakeholders in regional events and a national summit. Over the past two years, Action Entrepreneurship participants discussed key challenges facing entrepreneurs and proposed potential solutions, which resulted in two reports: Unlocking the Power of Youth Entrepreneurship: An Action Plan for Canada and Action Entrepreneurship Guide to Growth: Report on Futurpreneur Canada’s Action Entrepreneurship 2015 National Summit.
“We’re dedicating Action Entrepreneurship 2016 to delivering on some of the recommendations that were put forward over the past two years, such as sharing the stories of local entrepreneurs and connecting entrepreneurs with experts who can teach them new skills,” said Julia Deans, CEO of Futurpreneur Canada. “This year has the added excitement of being our 20th anniversary, which has inspired us to celebrate the entrepreneurial community that we work with and learn from every day.”
Action Entrepreneurship 2016, presented by Meridian, kicks off on Wednesday, January 27 with the first of 11 regional events, and culminates in May with a national summit and 20th anniversary celebration in Toronto.
Regional events will highlight the work that is being done within communities to support entrepreneurs, showcase the stories of Futurpreneur alumni, offer learning sessions with regional experts and provide networking opportunities for participants.
