France issued 5 billion euros ($5.36 billion) in a new May 2054-dated government bond, or OAT, via a bank syndicate on Tuesday, one of the lead manager banks said.

Books closed above EUR46 billion, including EUR2.25 billion joint lead manager interest, the same bank said. This is slightly lower than the over EUR47 billion demand indicated at the time of book close.

The spread on the bond was set 9 basis points above the yield of the 0.75% May 2053 OAT, the same bank said. The bond, which has a 3% coupon, was priced at 97.422, at a yield of 3.13%, the bank said.

Lead managers of the transaction were BNP Paribas, Citi, Credit Agricole CIB, HSBC and Societe Generale.
