BEIJING, Feb 23 (Reuters) - Foreign holdings of China's onshore yuan bonds increased for the fifth consecutive month in January, official data showed on Friday.

Foreign institutions held 3.87 trillion yuan in bonds traded on China's interbank market as of the end of January, the central bank's Shanghai head office said, up from 3.67 trillion yuan a month earlier. (Reporting by Albee Zhang and Ryan Woo, Editing by William Maclean)
