WASHINGTON, Jan 25, 2013 -Advance Pierre Foods, an Enid, Okla. establishment, is recalling approximately 1,200 pounds of chicken fried chicken breasts that may contain small pieces of metal, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today.

  • 22.75-oz. pouches of Fast Classics Chicken Fried Chicken Breasts
  • Cases containing 6, 22.75-oz pouches Fast Classics Chicken Fried Chicken Breasts

The recalled product bears the establishment number "P-2260Y" inside the USDA mark of inspection, and a "best by" date of Jan. 22, 2014, the lot number 1522960202, and a UPC number 75901-33100. The products were distributed in Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Oklahoma and Texas.

The problem was discovered after the company received two consumer complaints. The problem occurred when a small metal hand tool fell into a grinder, which was discovered by the company's metal detectors. Although the company began diverting product, the product being recalled was packaged and shipped before all corrective actions could be taken. FSIS and the company have received no reports of injury associated with consumption of these products.

FSIS routinely conducts recall effectiveness checks to verify that recalling firms notify their customers of the recall and that steps are taken to make certain that the product is no longer available to consumers. When available, the retail distribution list(s) will be posted on FSIS' website at: www.fsis.usda.gov
