NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - May 4, 2015) - Fish & Richardson today announced that Lisa A. Chiarini, previously a partner at Hughes Hubbard & Reed, has joined the firm's New York office as a Principal in its Intellectual Property (IP) Litigation Group. Chiarini will continue to focus her practice on IP litigation and product development counseling services in the pharmaceutical, chemical, and medical device industries.

Chiarini is a versatile seasoned lawyer who has litigated IP disputes at the International Trade Commission (ITC), district court, and International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) International Court of Arbitration. Most recently, she acted as lead counsel representing an innovator company seeking an order to exclude generic entry of an active ingredient allegedly made by an infringing process at the ITC. She was a member of the trial team in the first ever patent litigation involving nanomedicine at the U.S. District Court of Delaware. She successfully defended a major pharmaceutical company at the ICC International Court of Arbitration in a dispute involving allegations of breach of contract and trade secrets misappropriation.

Chiarini also provides business-focused patent counseling and competitive intelligence for companies desiring market entry for a new product. She has worked with various companies seeking advice on entry into an already pioneered market with mitigated litigation risk and valuable IP positioning. She has experience with various technologies including pharmaceuticals, pesticides, regenerative medicine, nanomedicine, bioscaffolds, medical devices, and catalysts.

"We are thrilled to bring Lisa on as a principal in our New York office. She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in pharmaceutical and medical device patent and trade secret litigation and arbitration. She is an exciting addition to our growing group of pharmaceutical and medical device litigators, who are achieving excellent results for our clients," said Ann Cathcart Chaplin, Litigation Practice Group Leader at Fish & Richardson. "She also has experience helping pharmaceutical companies litigate at the ITC to block imports of generic drugs, which is a hot growth area for our leading ITC and Life Sciences practices."

Chiarini received her J.D., cum laude, from Brooklyn Law School in 2000, her M.S., with honors, from Hofstra University in 1994 and her B.S. from St. Joseph's College in 1990.
