Burntisland Community Council launched their Community Action Plan in July 2016. This highlights travel and energy as local community priorities. Fife Council's Transport, Planning, Community Planning and Low Carbon Energy teams are working closely with the community to take forward these priorities.

Fife Council has been awarded two funds to support this work:

  1. A European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) Low Carbon Travel and Transport (LCTT) Challenge Fund to assess the best places to create travel hubs in Burntisland;
  2. A CARES (Community and Renewable Energy Scheme) IIF (Infrastructure and Innovation Fund) to develop a local energy master plan for the whole community.

This is a collaborative pilot project with community decision making at its heart. The transport project will run to the beginning of January 2017, and the Local Energy Master plan to March 2017. The projects will help guide the next steps, and where possible to develop more detailed projects that can be used to apply for other funding.
