In an effort to help customers manage winter heating bills, Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania, Inc. will be releasing a series of weekly installments throughout the heating season called 'Cold Weather Minute.' These tips are aimed at helping customers manage their energy bills this winter heating season by using energy wisely.

Keep your furnace running at peak performanceby replacing your furnace filters once a month. A clean filter gives your furnace a longer life, reducing buildup that can result in costly repairs or system failure. A dirty filter restricts airflow, makes the system work harder and circulates dust through your home. An inefficiently burning furnace can produce carbon monoxide. Make sure to have an annual inspection by a professional contractor to check the burners, clean the blower and perform safety tests to keep your home safe and warm.

As a reminder, if you suspect carbon monoxide poisoning or a natural gas leak, leave the home immediately and then contact 911 or call Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania's emergency line at 1-888-460-4332.
