Although the opportunity exists, few carriers today approach their conservation and retention process as a new marketing communications opportunity. According to the participants in Eastbridge's Conservation and Retention Practices of Voluntary Carriers Spotlight Report TM, most customer services representatives only give basic information on how to port coverage and little on the value of porting. In addition, only half of the carriers actively involve their call center service representatives in the conservation process.

The report also found that less than half of the carriers surveyed directly notify employees about their portability options on a regular basis. Many instead depend on the plan administrator--who often is too busy and or ill-equipped--to communicate this information to their employees.

The Conservation and Retention Practices of Voluntary Carriers Spotlight Report TM includes data from 18 carriers active in the worksite market. The report examines, in detail, each carrier's conservation and retention practices including:

  • Voluntary platform type and portability differences by platform
  • Employee-level portability and conservation
  • Account-level portability and conservation
  • Future trends

The report is now available for purchase for $1,500. More information, including a table of contents for the report, is available on Eastbridge's website. To purchase the report, call (860) 676-9633 or email info@eastbridge.com.
