CHARLOTTE, N.C., Jan. 14, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The theme for the 2016 Carolinas-Virginia Minority Supplier Development Council Annual Meeting is "Better Together," encouraging Corporate Members, certified Minority Business Enterprises (MBEs), and community leaders to work together and strengthen their collective ability to accomplish more for business inclusion and diversity initiatives. The two-day Annual Meeting will take place Jan. 27-28 at the Hilton Hotel in Richmond, Virginia and is sponsored by Capital One Financial Corporation. The Annual Meeting will kick off on Wednesday evening with an MBEIC Reception and Silent Auction. Thursday morning activities begin with a Connection Breakfast networking opportunity, followed by a general session, which will feature a Year in Review presentation by CVMSDC president Eric Watson and an overview titled "Better Together Through Diversity and Inclusion." The luncheon will feature a scholarship presentation and introduction of the new 2016 CVMSDC Board of Directors. In the afternoon, NMSDC president Joset Wright-Lacy will join the Fireside Chat, along with Capital One Chief Procurement Officer Jim Gorzalski and ARD Logistics president Sylvester Hester, to discuss how members of the Council can work "Better Together."

Watson said, "The work we do to support diversity and inclusion at all levels is important, and it requires the participation of everyone. Elevating our brand at CVMSDC is not a singular act. We expressly feel the brands of our Corporate Members and MBEs--along with our strategic partners--all benefit from the success of the Council. That message will be reinforced through our 'Better Together' themed annual meeting in Richmond, Virginia, and we look forward to seeing results from this strategic engagement all year long."
