LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwired - Jan 16, 2014) - Apigee today announced that mobility brand Bugaboo, known for its innovative, high-performance baby strollers, has selected Apigee Edge to provide the app and API infrastructure for Bugaboo's digital platform. With Apigee, Bugaboo can create a consistent shopping and brand experience for consumers across all devices by integrating and exposing both new and legacy data systems faster. In addition, Bugaboo is using Apigee to establish a new developer portal that will make it easier for developers to build innovative apps that leverage the company's digital assets, while also giving Bugaboo control and insight into API usage.

In staying true to the company's mission to meet the needs of modern, on-the-go-parents, Bugaboo is introducing a new digital experience for consumers and retailers. The system is designed to reduce dependencies on legacy systems, technology and integration partners. Using Apigee, data and functionality will be woven through various back-office applications and converted to a uniform, cached and consolidated response for any front or back-office system.

"Leveraging Apigee gives our consumers a smooth, mobile shopping experience that is similar to the performance they can expect from our award winning strollers. Also, it will give our retailers new opportunities to access Bugaboo tools and information," said Ronald van Drunen, E-Commerce Director, at Bugaboo. "We can finally combine technologies and realise new features, like the ability for a consumer to visually configure a Bugaboo stroller along with Bugaboo accessories before they add it to their cart or save it to their profile. This new digital platform will help our consumers to choose the right stroller and accessories that best match their lifestyle and buy the product from one of our selected retailers or online."

Bugaboo will also leverage Apigee to establish a new developer portal that will enable app developers, retailers, bloggers, internal and external application developers to easily leverage the data and functionality that Bugaboo chooses to expose. Through the portal, Bugaboo can carefully manage access and usage by monitoring all communication and services and applying logic and policies. This comprehensive visibility will provide Bugaboo granular insights into everything occurring within its digital landscape.

"Apigee will live on the edge of Bugaboo's systems," said Jeremy Perlman, managing director EMEA, Apigee. "Not only is this a technological upgrade for Bugaboo, but the company will also get the added benefit of better insights into what their customers and retailers are looking for, so they can proactively engage them on a deeper and more personal level."

The Apigee digital business platform is designed to help companies of all sizes succeed in today's mobile world by integrating big data analytics with API and app technology infrastructure.
