Residents will have the details of Bromsgrove taxis, which are wheel-chair accessible at their fingertips after a decision as made at last night's Licensing Committee.

Following consultation exercises which span over a year, members of the Council's Licensing Committee considered the results and agreed there was no evidence to make all licensed taxis across the District wheelchair accessible.

Instead the Committee have asked that those taxis which are wheelchair accessible are made promoted more prominently. Currently the Council does licence 13 vehicles - seven Hackney Carriages and six private hire vehicles, which are wheelchair accessible.

Committee Chairman Cllr Rita Dent said: 'While the outcome was that members were not satisfied there was sufficient evidence to support amending the Council's policy the outcome to promote the right taxis to meet our residents' needs was really positive.
'We are now planning our promotional campaign.'
