Appear Here (www.appearhere.nyc/), the leading marketplace for short-term retail space, announces the winners of its second Space for Ideas competition, in partnership with Square, to discover the next big retail ideas.

This year’s winners include:

  • London -Aerende, a craft homewares brand handmade by people facing social challenges, will open at the Blue Boutique in Borough Market
  • New York - Primo Toys, a London-based educational toy company, will open at The White Brick Boutique in the West Village
  • Paris - Le Chocolat Des Francais, French-made chocolate with illustrations from France’s finest artists, will open at the Boutique-Atelier Carreau du Temple in the heart of the Marais

This year’s panel of judges included fashion and commerce powerhouses like Neil Blumenthal (co-founder of Warby Parker) and Natalie Massenet, among additional industry elite. The winners were chosen for their original concepts, high-quality products and vision for how to bring their space to life.

Stores will open at the end of October through mid November, and will be built out by design agencies Pop-up Mob in New York, Kennedy Woods in London and Retail 3D in Paris.

“After receiving nearly 1,500 entries, I’m so excited to introduce this year’s winners to the top three trend-setting cities in the world,” says Ross Bailey, founder and CEO of Appear Here. “All brands need to start somewhere, and it’s been an honor to work alongside our talented judges to pick the three winning ideas. These founders have demonstrated ambition, creativity, originality, and an exciting imagination for how to bring their space to life. I can't wait to see how far these ideas travel."

Prize Package

  • A two week, rent free flagship store in London, Paris and New York City
  • $4K (£3K or €3.5K) to spend and up to $10K (£7.8K or €8.7K) in design services from leading retail design agencies
  • Mentoring sessions from experts in the industry, competition partners and judges
