January 15, 2021 ABA Midyear Tax Meeting to feature tax policy outlook in new administration and Congress

WASHINGTON, Jan. 15, 2021 - The American Bar Association Section of Taxation will hold its annual Midyear Tax Meeting Jan. 26-29 and feature Mark J. Mazur, director of the Urban-Brookings Tax Policy Center, and Janice Mays, managing director, Tax Policy Services at PwC US, taking a look at tax policy in the Biden administration and the new Congress. The meeting will occur online due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Mazur and Mays will speak at the opening plenary on Jan. 26 at 10:30 a.m.-12 p.m. ET. Before joining the tax policy center, Mazur served in federal government for decades in various positions, including assistant secretary for tax policy at the U.S. Department of the Treasury and policy economist at the congressional Joint Committee on Taxation. Mays joined PwC after a long career on Capitol Hill, where she was staff director and chief tax counsel for the House Committee on Ways and Means.

More than 1,500 attendees, including 1,000 private and 500 government attorneys, will participate in 40 different programs. Panels of tax experts and government officials will be presented on a variety of topics, ranging from employee benefits and tax accounting to investment management and state and local taxes. Speakers will provide in-depth discussions and explanations of the latest federal, state and international legal developments and planning trends.
