Dr. Ulrike Famira-Mühlberger is a Senior Economist & Deputy Director at Österreichisches Institut für Wirtschaftsforschung.

Since October 2019, she has been deputy head of WIFO with a focus on external coordination.
Her work focuses on socioeconomic aspects of long-term care, the interfaces between the labor market and social security, and the socio-economic effects of the aging population.
Before joining WIFO, she was a university assistant at the Vienna University of Economics and Business in the field of Labor Market Economics for six years, interrupted by research stays at Harvard University, University of California – Berkeley, University of Turin, and the European University Institute
Dr. Ulrike Famira-Mühlberger completed a Ph.D.
program in Social and Political Sciences at the European University Institute in Florence in 2004 and a doctorate in Economics at the Vienna University of Economics and Business in 2002, where she also habilitated in Economics in 2010.
