Mr. Takatoshi Matsumoto is President & Chief Executive Officer at Academy Capital Investments, Inc. He is on the Board of Directors at ITOCHU Techno-Solutions Corp.
Prior to ACI, he spent over nine years at Cisco Systems.
He has held a number of key executive positions after the foundation of Cisco Japan in 1992.
He was the first president of Cisco Japan until he was appointed chairman (1998-2001).
He was also promoted to VP of Japan Operations in 1995 and then VP of Asia Operations (1996-1998), at Cisco Systems, Inc. During his tenure at Cisco Japan, Cisco Japan became the number one networking company in Japan (sales growth from $14M to $1.5B).
He was able to accomplish this through strategic alliances with 13 key technology companies (1994).Prior to Cisco, he founded Sun Microsystems Japan (1985) as their first Japanese president.
During his four years of service, he made Sun Japan the number one workstation company in Japan (sales growth from $8M to $220M).
He also founded Insight International (UNIX Consulting) in 1982 and Systems Software Associates, Japan as a Japanese subsidiary of a Chicago-based ERP Company, in 1989.
He began his professional carrier at NEC as a Systems Engineer, gaining diverse software development experience (including the TSS operating system and compilers).
As a professor, he taught an Entrepreneur class at the Graduate School of Media & Governance, Keio University (2000-2002).
In 1966, he joined Nihon System Development as a software engineer for mainframe operating system development.
He holds a Bachelor of Engineering Degree in Electronics Engineering, Hosei University (1966).
He received an honorary Doctors Degree from the same university in 2001.
