Dr. Bakht joined OTD in 2007.
Prior to that, he worked as a scientist at the Long Island High Technology Incubator, developing new biophysical assays to identify peptide drugs.
Concurrent with that, he worked as a technology evaluator for the Office of Technology Licensing and Industry Relations at Stony Brook University.
He has also started a consulting group consisting of MBA students and graduate students who helped local high technology companies.
Also, his kung-fu is very strong.
Dr. Bakht received his BS in Biophysics from Johns Hopkins University and his Ph.D.
in Physiology and Biophysics from Stony Brook University.
During his time at Johns Hopkins Hospital, he developed software to 3-dimensionally map brain fibers from clinical MRI data.
During his graduate work, he studied the structural properties of membrane bound proteins and lipid-lipid interactions.
His work has lead to several peer reviewed publications and a book chapter.
