Martin J. Phipps

Mr. Martin J.
Phipps is Head of Marketing at NewSmith Asset Management LLP.
He joined NewSmith in 2011, and has over 25 years experience in the asset management industry encompassing operations, money management and business roles.
Between 1996 and 2010, Mr. Phipps was employed by Gartmore Investment Management, initially as Head of International Client Services and, from 1999 as Head of Hedge Funds, in which role he was instrumental in the creation and growth of Gartmore’s hedge fund business.
He was employed by County Bank/NatWest Investment Management in a variety of roles, including five years managing money in the Quantitative Fixed Income & Currency Group of County Bank’s Investment Division, becoming head of that group in 1989.
From 1999 to 2007, he served as a Director of the hedge fund companies managed by Gartmore and at various times was a Director of NatWest Investment Management, The Formosa Growth Fund Ltd., Gartmore Pension Trustees Ltd.
and Kwang Hua Securities Investment Trust Co. Ltd.
Mr. Phipps has a B.A.
(Hons) in Management Studies & Geography from the University of Leeds.
