The Council for the Advancement of Standards in Higher Education (CAS) is a professional organization that promotes standards in student affairs, student services, and student development programs. The private company is based in Fort Lauderdale, FL. CAS standards respond to student needs, sound pedagogy, and effective management of 50 functional areas and 3 cross-functional areas. The organization comprises individuals from over 40 member organizations, representing a significant majority of higher education practitioners in student programs and services throughout the country and beyond. Founded in 1979, CAS creates and delivers standards, guidelines, and self-assessment guides to enhance student learning, development, and achievement.
