Katherine McFate
Profile
Prior to joining Ford Foundation in 2006, Ms. McFate was a deputy director at the Rockefeller Foundation, directing a research and policy program to strengthen the economic resiliency of American workers in the face of globalization, outsourcing, and the contracting out of public services.
Together with academic researchers and think tanks, the program monitored global production and distribution networks and shortcomings of financial regulation and corporate governance.
The program also supported national and state advocacy groups and community-based organizations working to develop organizing and communications strategies to advance breakthrough ideas.
Prior to her career in philanthropy, Ms. McFate spent nine years at the Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies, where she directed the urban poverty program and wrote a volume on comparative social policy.
She also lectured at Yale University and was a special adviser to the City of New Haven on its youth employment programs and anti-poverty policies.
Ms. McFate received an M.
Phil and two master's degrees, in politics and sociology, from Yale University.
