He helped grow traded credit, direct lending, structured credit and special situations strategies, utilizing draw-down funds, mutual funds, commingled funds, and SMAs in the US, Europe and Asia.
Prior to Alcentra, Mr. Yang was Managing Partner at Onex Credit Partners, where he helped significantly grow and diversify the firm’s strategies, products and investor base.
Prior to Onex, Mr. Yang was Managing Partner and Head of Business Development at Highland Capital Management, where he developed new strategies, products, and capital raising resources which grew the firm from $8 billion to $40 billion in 6 years.
Mr. Yang began his career as a Wall Street investment and capital markets banker.
He spent 9 years at Merrill Lynch where he was Global Head of Leveraged Finance, and 10 years at Chemical Bank (now J.P.
Morgan Chase), where he helped establish the leveraged buyout, syndicated loan, and high yield bond groups.
Mr. Yang served as Vice Chairman and director of the Loan Syndications and Trading Associations (LSTA) and a director of the Loan Market Association (LMA).
He earned a B.A.
in Economics from Cornell University and an M.B.A.
from Columbia University Business School.
