Nick is a Managing Partner of Actis, responsible for managing Assets, our legacy portfolio and new distressed assets business.
He is also responsible for Actis’s interests in Aureos, our joint venture company with Norfund specialising in SME investment in emerging markets, and is a member of the Investment Committee.
Nick joined CDC Capital Partners in 1989, prior to the creation of Actis in 2004, as Finance Director.
From 1995-2000 he was appointed Managing Director, CDC Investments and in 1996 became a Director of Comafin.
Nick was appointed Managing Director of Assets in 2000, responsible for managing CDC's legacy portfolio.
In 2001 he became the first Chairman of Aureos, handing over to the Norfund nominee in 2003 and remaining a member of the Board.
Nick has been a Director of a number of Actis’s managed agribusinesses and currently sits on the Board of Royal Swaziland Sugar Corporation.
Prior to joining CDC, Nick was a Director in the International Corporate Finance division of Kleinwort Benson, following 14 years with BZW/Barclays Merchant Bank in London and New York.
Nick has an MBA from London Business School and was educated at Charterhouse and Christ Church Oxford.
He was a VSO teacher in Malawi and is currently a Trustee of ITDG and Students Partnership Worldwide, a member of VSO's Council and Chairman of VSO's Fundraising Advisory Board, and Honorary Treasurer of the Royal Africa Society.
