Mr. Salinas has worked for the Bossier Parish School Board and Caddo Parish School Board years.
In 1985, he was selected Bossier Parish Teacher of the Year.
He has served as a classroom teacher, assistant principal, and supervisor.
His professional memberships include the American Educational Research Association, the National Science Teachers Association, the Louisiana Science Teachers Association, and the National Education Association.
Mr. Slinas received his BA from LSU in 1977, his MS from Louisiana Tech University in 1982, and his Ed.D.
from Vanderbilt University in 1998.
Mr. Salinas has been a member of Phi Delta Kappa, an educational association, for ten years.
As an active Kappan, he served on the Advisory Council and served as 7G Area Coordinator four years.
He received the Service Key Award in 2000 and the Earl McKenzie Award in 2002 from his home chapter, Shreveport-Bossier 1213.
Most recently, he was recognized as a consultant on the 2002 Life Science textbook that is published by Glencoe-McGraw Hill.
He served as a reviewer on the 1991 Physical Science textbook published by Merrill Publishing
