Prior to joining Stonnington, Mr. Knowles was with The Marcus & Millichap Company as Director of Financial Strategy where he was responsible for capital market and strategic development activities in connection with its various subsidiary companies.
Previously, he served as a Managing Director based in the Los Angeles office of Chadwick, Saylor & Co., a firm focused on institutional private equity capital for the real estate industry.
Before Chadwick, Saylor, David was a Managing Director of Merrill Lynch & Co. responsible for its real estate investment banking activities in the Western United States.
He had also been a Managing Director of Salomon Brothers Inc. and Co-Manager of Salomon’s global real estate department based in New York and Los Angeles.
Following graduate school, he was with the real estate investment banking group of Warburg Paribas Becker in New York and London.
Mr. Knowles has nearly thirty years of experience in global investment banking.
In addition to having represented many of the nation’s most prominent real estate companies in connection with merger/advisory services and public/private capital raising, he has been closely associated with many of Wall Street’s first and most significant transactions involving securitization of commercial real estate.
He is a licensed California real estate broker, a policy advisory board member of the U.C.
Berkeley Center for Real Estate and Urban Economics, a former advisory board member of the Los Angeles Sports & Entertainment Commission, a former board member of the Los Angeles Stanford Business Advisory Council and a member of the Urban Land Institute, PREA, ICSC and NAREIT.
Mr. Knowles received a BA degree from Stanford University and an MBA from the Stanford Business School.
