In 1974 he was President and Co-Founder of Community Pacific Broadcasting (CPB) with radio stations in Alaska, Washington State, Oregon, California, and Iowa.
He has also served as radio Group Vice President for Greater Media, a diversified media company with investments in cable TV, newspapers and radio.
At Greater Media, he oversaw 16 radio stations in Los Angeles, Detroit, Philadelphia, Washington, DC, Central New Jersey and Boston.
In 1994 Mr. Banta became President and Founder of Mercury Radio Communications, which owned radio properties in Buffalo and Philadelphia.
He sold Mercury Radio Communications to Citadel Communications in October of 1999.
Mr. Banta received his BA from Yale University (Magna Cum Laude) in 1970 and his MBA from the Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration (specializing in finance) in 1972.
