Cathy Merrett (nee Good) advises clients on a variety of corporate commercial matters, with specific emphasis on subordinated debt and corporate finance transactions.
Cathy acts for a number of mezzanine lenders and venture capital funds and has been involved in structuring and effecting a variety of traditional and innovative debt and equity placements for lenders, investors, public and private companies and limited partnerships.
Cathy regularly provides advice to clients on reorganizations, financings, acquisitions and divestitures and management buyouts.
In addition, she provides advice to many private companies on corporate and business matters, including corporate governance issues.
Cathy is one of the instructors of the "Growth Business and the Law" corporate finance course at the University of Alberta Faculty of Law and has been an instructor of the Business Section of the Alberta Bar Admission Course since 2001.
Cathy attended the University of Alberta Faculty of Arts (English) from 1987- 1989, following which she obtained early admission to the Faculty of Law.
She obtained her Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Alberta in 1992, and then articled at the Calgary office of a large national firm.
Cathy also advises and serves on the Boards of several not-for-profit community organizations and societies.
