Alex Wood

Mr. Alexander Wood is Vice Chairman, Managing Partner & Chief Executive Officer at AWR Lloyd Ltd.
Mr. Wood has twenty years of investment banking and strategy consulting experience worldwide: nine years with Paribas and eleven years with AWR Lloyd.
He is a founding Partner of AWR Lloyd and was appointed as the firm’s Managing Partner and CEO in July 2010.
At Paribas (1991-99), he worked in corporate banking, equity capital markets and M&A with a focus on Mining & Metals and Oil & Gas in the emerging markets (Eastern Europe, FSU, Asia, Africa and Latin America).
During his time at Paribas he was also the Chairman of the Association of Mining Analysts in London from 1997-98.
In 1999, he left Paribas to establish AWR Lloyd and in 2001 moved to Bangkok.
Since then he has managed a number of assignments for clients in Indonesia, India, China, Vietnam and Thailand.
His main industry focus has been coal and oil, although he also has experience in steel, other mining industries, renewable energy and real estate.
In the coal sector, he has been strategic and financial advisor to Banpu since 2000, helping the company grow from a small conglomerate into one of Asia’s largest coal players.
In addition to strategic consulting and M&A work, he has also established the firm’s IR & Stock Market Strategy practice and has been a leading proponent of best practice investor relations in Asia through conferences, seminars and press articles.
Mr. Wood was educated in Economics and History at the London School of Economics (BSc) and Oxford University (MSt).
