CHICAGO, May 20 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Parkways Foundation presents the
second annual GALApalooza on Thursday, July 31 at 6 p.m. at the Petrillo Band
Shell in Grant Park at Columbus and Jackson Drives.
GALApalooza treats guests to an exclusive sneak preview of the
transformation of Grant Park into the Lollapalooza venue in a lounge-like
atmosphere. Sofas and ottomans take the place of traditional tables affording
the opportunity to mix and mingle with other party goers while enjoying
cocktails and a buffet dinner.
The highlight of the evening will undoubtedly be the entertainment as
Lollapalooza featured band Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings will take the stage
for an unforgettable funk, rhythm and blues performance. Their album 100
Days, 100 Nights celebrates the band's traditional rhythm and blues roots and
has brought them to the forefront of old school soul and funk music. Sharon
Jones and the Dap-Kings is also opening for Dave Matthews Band at Toyota Park
in Bridgeview, IL and was recently featured on Late Night with David
Letterman.
Parkways Foundation is the non-profit partner of the Chicago Park
District, bringing private investment to improve the cultural and physical
landscape of the city's parks. This year, Parkways Foundation is partnering
with the Chicago Park District and the City of Chicago in seeking private
investment to restore Buckingham Fountain. The 80 year-old fountain is one of
Chicago's greatest treasures and is one of the most recognizable landmarks in
the world. Parkways invites Chicagoans, and visitors to the city, to consider
a donation -- gifts at all levels will help celebrate the fountain. Proceeds
from GALApalooza will benefit The Buckingham Fountain Restoration Project.
This year's GALApalooza is co-chaired by Alison Krzys, Public Relations
Account Director at XA, The Experiential Agency; Joel Morales, Marketing
Manager for The James Chicago and John De Vine III, Parkways Board Member.
Generous sponsors of this year's event include Charter One, CB Richard Ellis
and The James Chicago.
Lounge experiences are available at the $3,500, $5,000 and $10,000 level
and single tickets are available for $350. For more information on sponsorship
