HAULAGE CONTRACT SECURED FOR ROPER BAR IRON ORE PROJECT

The Directors of Western Desert Resources Limited (ASX: WDR) are pleased to announce that they have entered into a long term contract for haulage of Iron ore from the Roper Bar Iron Ore project to the loading facility at Bing Bong.

The contract covers transport of DSO grade iron ore from the deposits at Roper Bar to the loading facility at Bing Bong port. The haulage route is shown in Figure 2.

Western Desert Resources Managing Director Norm Gardner said "After discussions with many parties over many months we have entered into a binding agreement with Wagners Transport. Wagners are well known in the Northern Territory - particularly at the moment as principal haulage contractor on the Inpex Gas project during its development. We required certainty about performance and reliability as well as competitive terms. With Wagners we are confident we have achieved our goals"

Background

The Roper Bar Iron Ore Province covers about 1,900 km2 within eight granted exploration licenses in the Northern Territory and includes an estimated 100 km2 of outcrop of the target Sherwin Formation which hosts extensive hematite iron ore horizons. The Province is divided into two project areas - Roper Bar and Mountain Creek.
