NEW YORK (AP) _ Virtu Financial Inc. (VIRT) on Thursday reported fourth-quarter net income of $27.6 million.

The New York-based company said it had profit of 27 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, came to 37 cents per share.

The results fell short of Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of five analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 53 cents per share.

The high-speed trading company posted revenue of $497.8 million in the period. Its adjusted revenue was $274.1 million, also falling short of Street forecasts. Five analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $299.9 million.

For the year, the company reported profit of $265 million, or $2.44 per share. Revenue was reported as $1.47 billion.
