U. S. Army Corps of Engineers, Kansas City District awarded it a $6.2 million Task Order for In- Situ Thermal Remediation (ISTR) services in support of the Diaz Chemical Corporation Operable Unit 2 Superfund Site located in the Village of Holley, NY. Currently, the base task and one optional task, constituting $5.3 million have been given notice to proceed. The period of performance for all tasks is February 10, 2017 through February 9, 2020.

The objective of this Task Order is to determine the adequacy of thermal treatment and the design parameters to implement the technology for the Diaz Superfund facility, which is located approximately 25 miles west of Rochester, NY and 50 miles east of Buffalo, NY. The approximately five-acre site formerly housed a halogenated and specialty chemicals manufacturing plant. The study area is bounded on two sides by residential neighborhoods and on the other two by railroad tracks and undeveloped land. The treatment area selected for this phase of work represents less than 10% of the potential area requiring thermal treatment.

"Versar is honored to be chosen to work on this very important Superfund Site." said Versar Chief Executive Officer Tony Otten. "Our team's expertise in ISTR is unparalleled and we are dedicated to establishing an accurate basis of design for the full-scale implementation of this project."
