PRESS RELEASE

OVER 2.8 MILLION PASSENGERS HANDLED IN 2021

UP 43% ON 2020 AND DOWN 66% ON 2019

Traffic results were impacted by both the effects of the Covid-19 emergency particularly significant for a region with extensive incoming international traffic as Tuscany and the two-month closure of the Florence airport for runway works

Florence, January 25, 2022 In 2021, the travel restrictions imposed by all countries to limit the spread of the pandemic continued to significantly impact the passenger traffic results of the Tuscan Airport System, which has always chiefly relied on incoming international tourism. Thus 2021 closed with 2,837,162 passengers handled, down 66% compared to 2019

the last pre-Covid year but increasing sharply (+43%) compared to 2020.

After the reduction to near zero of air traffic in the first five months of the year (-93.5% compared to the same period of 2019) due to the spread of the pandemic, and the further impact caused by the closure of the Florence airport in February and March 2021 for runway works, as of June there was a gradual recovery (-74.7% compared to June 2019), which reached its peak in November (-34.6% compared to the same period of 2019) to then settle in the last month of the year (-42.9% compared to December 2019) due to the spread of the Omicron variant. In 2021, the number of flights amounted to 39,573 overall, up 31.2% compared to 2020 and down 49.9% on 2019.

With 15,356 tons of carried goods and mail, cargo traffic increased by 14.0% compared to 2020 and by 16.5% compared to 2019.

Pisa Galileo Galilei airport

In 2021, Pisa airport handled 1,999,137 passengers, increasing by 52.0% compared to 2020 and declining by 62.9% on 2019. This result was attributable to the increase in both national scheduled passenger traffic (+62.2%) and international flights (+44.5%). In contrast to the pre-Covid period, the domestic market recovered percentage weight (44.9%) against the international one (55.1%). In line with this trend, Italian destinations were preferred in 2021. With the exception of Tirana, the first five positions were in fact won by Palermo, Catania, Cagliari and Brindisi.

As regards cargo traffic, Pisa airport grew by 17.3% compared to 2020 and by 17.2% nce and the all-cargo operations

to New York.

Florence Amerigo Vespucci airport

In 2021, Florence airport handled 838,025 passengers, up 25.2% compared to 2020 and down 70.8% on 2019. Besides the effects due to the spread of the pandemic, traffic results were also impacted by the closure of the Florence airport in February and March 2021 due to the planned periodic maintenance of flight infrastructures. Unlike Pisa airport, Florence airport reported an increase in international scheduled passenger traffic (+35.4%) and a decline in national flights (-27.6%), in line with a context where the international market accounts for 90% of total traffic and the national market for 10%. In fact, the first five destinations in 2021 were all international, namely Paris, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Munich and Barcelona.
