Notice of Joint Disaster Prevention Drill with the Ground Self-Defense Force

to Prepare for Nankai Trough Megaquake

TOHO HOLDINGS CO., LTD. (Headquarters: Tokyo; Representative Director, CEO: Atsushi Udoh) is pleased to announce that TOHO PHARMACEUTICAL CO., LTD. (Headquarters: Tokyo; President and Representative Director: Akira Umada; hereinafter "TOHO PHARMACEUTICAL"), its wholly owned subsidiary engaged in pharmaceutical wholesaling, conducted a joint disaster prevention drill on Wednesday, September 6, with the Yoga Branch of the Kanto Supply Department of the Ground Self-Defense Force (Setagaya-ku, Tokyo; hereinafter "GSDF") to improve preparedness for a Nankai Trough megaquake.

1. Background of the Joint Disaster Prevention Drill with the GSDF

The Company's social mission is to provide a stable supply of pharmaceuticals and other products even in times of emergency, such as disasters and pandemics, and establishing its business continuity plan is positioned as one of its most important issues. Over the years, we have been promoting our own BCP measures, such as duplicating mission-critical systems, building supply systems that can complement each other even in an emergency, and building distribution centers that can operate even with a small number of people through the introduction of cutting-edge technology. In the event of a large-scale disaster in Japan, such as an earthquake or heavy rain, we have realized prompt disaster response without disrupting the supply of pharmaceuticals and other products. At the Keihin Truck Terminal, which has been designated by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government as a base for transporting goods in the event of a disaster, we have established the only pharmaceutical distribution center in Tokyo, TBC DynaBASE (Ota-ku, Tokyo), thereby developing a system to provide goods quickly and stably in times of large-scale disasters across the country, including an earthquake beneath the Tokyo Metropolitan area, through cooperation with public authorities and related organizations.

As part of this initiative, we conducted a joint disaster drill with the GSDF at the TBC DynaBASE in preparation for a Nankai Trough megaquake. Going forward, we will continue to promote the Company's disaster preparedness and strive to maintain and improve its BCPs through such drills.

2. Overview of Joint Disaster Prevention Drill

  1. GSDF's response to TOHO PHARMACEUTICAL's request to transport pharmaceuticals
In the event of a disaster, it is expected that delivery to medical institutions and others will be difficult due to unforeseen circumstances such as road disruptions. As one of the measures to cope with this situation, we conducted a joint transportation drill with the GSDF.
  2. Supply of "ready-to-use supply sets" of emergency procurement items at the request of the GSDF
A drill to prepare and deliver ready-to-use supply sets was conducted using the inventory in TBC DynaBASE.
