MR ZHANG TIANREN, CHAIRMAN OF TIANNENG POWER, NAMED AS "ERNST & YOUNG ENTREPRENEUR OF THE YEAR"

(Hong Kong, 15 November 2012) - Tianneng Power International Limited ("Tianneng Power" or the "Company"), China's largest electric vehicle motive battery supplier, together with its subsidiaries, (the "Group") (stock code: 819.HK), has announced that its Chairman, Mr Zhang Tianren, has been named "Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year 2012 - Industrial Products Category" recognising his ability to drive industry innovation and his contributions to society.
This year marks the seventh time that the "Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year China Awards" have been presented since debuting in 2006. The Award aims to honor business leaders with outstanding achievements demonstrating a clear vision, exceptional knowledge and insights as well as leadership. The winners are selected by an independent judging panel comprising leaders and experts in the community and business sector together with previous award winners. This year's theme "Driving Growth for Collaborative Success" epitomises the special qualities shared by all of the deserving winners. This year, 13 outstanding entrepreneurs garnered the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of The Year 2012 title in the China category. Those honoured represent a diverse range of business sectors including emerging industries, media and entertainment, financial services, life sciences, consumer products, retail, and manufacturing as well as the service sector. Their achievements through innovation have brought substantial contributions to their respective industry and the larger community.

As a result of more than two decades of dedicated effort, Mr Zhang Tianren has successfully built up his own brand and enterprise. "TIANNENG" has earned the accolade "Chinese Best Motive Battery Brand" for four consecutive years, and Tianneng Group itself has become the largest listed lead-acid motive battery producer in China's electric bike markets. The Group supplied motive batteries to the 2010
Shanghai World Expo and serves more than 100 electric car manufacturers. It has also developed a project for large-scale non-hazardous recycling of waste lead-acid batteries. Mr. Zhang is a keen supporter of charitable causes as well. He has led employees in frontline disaster relief work and contributes donations to the education of children and foundations that help students from poor families. Through his ideas, vision and vigourous efforts, he made exceptional contributions to the industry and the community in the past year in the face of a slacking global economy and an uncertain economic outlook.
