Fertilizers & Chemicals Travancore Ltd. reported unaudited earnings results for the third quarter and nine months ended December 31, 2012. For the quarter, the company reported net sales/income from operations of INR 6,774.8 million, loss from operations before other income, finance costs and exceptional items of INR 429.9 million, loss from ordinary activities before tax of INR 798.1 million and net loss of INR 798.1 million or INR 1.23 per basic and diluted share before and after extraordinary items against net sales/income from operations of INR 8,628.3 million, profit from operations before other income, finance costs and exceptional items of INR 488.2 million, profit from ordinary activities before tax of INR 147.9 million and net loss of INR 147.9 million or INR 0.23 per basic and diluted share before and after extraordinary items for the same period a year ago.
For the year, the company reported net sales/income from operations of INR 19,187.3 million, loss from operations before other income, finance costs and exceptional items of INR 1,088.3 million, loss from ordinary activities before tax of INR 2,102.2 million and net loss of INR 2,102.2 million or INR 3.25 per basic and diluted share before and after extraordinary items against net sales/income from operations of INR 20,955.4 million, profit from operations before other income, finance costs and exceptional items of INR 834.8 million, loss from ordinary activities before tax of INR 144.2 million and net loss of INR 144.2 million or INR 0.22 per basic and diluted share before and after extraordinary items for the same period a year ago.
The Fertilizers and Chemicals Travancore Limited is engaged in the manufacturing of fertilizer and chemicals. It operates through two segments: Fertilizer, Petrochemical. The fertilizer segment comprises ammonium phosphate, ammonium sulphate, mixtures, and muriate of potash (MOP). The petrochemical segment comprises of caprolactam. Its products include fertilizers, such as complex fertilizers, straight fertilizers, fact organic, bio fertilizers, imported fertilizers and bagged gypsum; caprolactam, which is manufactured from raw materials, such as benzene, Sulphur, ammonia, carbon-di-oxide, and by products, such as anhydrous ammonia, nitric acid (55%), soda ash (off grade), gypsum, sulphuric acid, and oleum. Its Cochin division has a production facility of over 485,000 tons-per-annum (TPA) of complex fertilizer, approximately 330,000 TPA of sulfuric acid and over 115,200 TPA of phosphoric acid. Its Udyogamandal Plants has an installed capacity of approximately 76,050 tons of nitrogen.
