Syniverse, Korea Telecom Together Honored with Global Telecoms Business Innovation Award

Syniverse Mobile Video Broadcast solution receives

“Wireless Network Infrastructure Innovation” Award

TAMPA, Fla. – June 8, 2011 – For the fourth consecutive year, Syniverse was presented a Global Telecoms Business Innovation Award at the annual ceremony in London on Tuesday, June 7. Global Telecoms Business Innovation Awards honor innovative projects involving telecommunications operators and service providers around the world, in association with their vendors and suppliers.

Syniverse was acknowledged in the “Wireless Network Infrastructure Innovation” category for its groundbreaking work providing Korea Telecom (KT) with the industry’s first Mobile Video Broadcast Servicethat is interoperable across every 3G and 4G network and mobile device, as well as PCs.

This Syniverse technology makes mobile video communications work by allowing any mobile user on any network around the globe the ability to receive a live video stream initiated by the mobile device of a KT subscriber – without requiring any new technology, software or application on the receiving mobile handset or PC. The unique, cross-platform video tool evolved from Syniverse’s heritage bridging network, platform and device islands around the world for SMS and then MMS. In fact, Syniverse experts developed the very first camera phone and sent the industry’s first picture message.

“We are honored that our groundbreaking video solution has been recognized by Global Telecoms Business with this prestigious award,” said Charles Landry, Senior Vice President, Global Messaging, Syniverse. “This is a testament not only to our Mobile Video Broadcast Service but also to KT’s foresight in providing an interoperable, ubiquitous mobile video experience for its subscribers.”

In the fifth year of the awards, Global Telecoms Business Editor Alan Burkitt-Gray said his organization

saw more nominations, from a greater range of operators and vendors, than ever before.

“This is a sure sign the industry is working harder and harder to deliver exciting and innovative services to customers worldwide,” Burkitt-Gray said. “Congratulations to all of this year’s award winners and to Syniverse and Korea Telecom for the Mobile Video Broadcast Service.”
