Singapore,24 January 2014-Shin Min Daily News, the daily Chinese evening newspaper published by Singapore Press Holdings (SPH), will be presenting the inaugural edition of theShin Min Powerman ChallengeonSaturday, 25 January 2014at Kovan Hub from3pm to 7pm.

Shin Min Daily News is known for its bold and daring coverage of news that is close at heart with Singaporeans, especially the heartlanders. The Shin Min Powerman Challenge is full of excitement and pushes limits - a reflection of the newspaper's unique DNA.

The main event of the Shin Min Powerman Challenge is the grand finals of theShin Min Arm Wrestling Challenge, where 24 finalists selected over a series of roadshows held at selected coffeeshops islandwide in December 2013 will battle it out to see who will emerge as the champion and win a cash prize of $1,000 and the challenge trophy.

Besides the arm wrestling challenge, there are three other strength challenges that Shin Min Daily News is organising for the public to participate:
1) Power Hammer Challenge
2) Beer Crate Lifting Challenge
3) Wheel Flipping Challenge

The three overall winners of each of these strength challenges will win $500 in cash and a medal. Five consolation prizes of $100 cash and a medal will also be given out for each of the three challenges, which will begin at3pmand end at6pm on Saturday.

Besides the show of physical prowess by the challengers, there will also be performances of popular songs - including Chinese New Year songs to bring out the festive spirit -by the Baobei Sisters (宝贝姐妹), Vanessa Voon (温丝婷) and Eric Du (杜鑫), as well as stage games with attractive prizes for the audience to win.

The Shin Min Powerman Challenge 2014 is sponsored by ABC Extra Stout and hosted by UFM 100.3 DJ Li Mei 丽梅 and Jessica Tan 陈诗婷.
