NEWBERRY, S.C. (Jan. 14, 2013)- SCE&G's license from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to operate the Parr Hydroelectric Project (which includes both the Parr Hydro and Fairfield Pumped Storage Plants) is coming up for renewal. The company will soon apply for a new license for the two facilities located in Jenksinville, S.C.

SCE&G will hold a public meeting Thursday, Jan. 17 at 7 p.m. at the Newberry County Courthouse on College Street in Newberry to discuss the relicensing process and how interested stakeholders may continue their involvement throughout the proceeding.

SCE&G representatives will solicit public input and answer questions regarding environmental, recreation, and lake and land management resources within the FERC licensed project boundary. This includes portions of the Broad River and Monticello Reservoir.

"These public outreach meetings are designed to get as much input from members of the community as possible," said Bill Argentieri, project lead for the relicensing process. "We encourage anyone who is interested in the future of Lake Monticello and Parr Reservoir to attend."

"It is important to note that the scope of this project does not include the V.C. Summer Nuclear Station," continued Argentieri. "It is licensed separately by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, so our discussions will be solely on the operations of the hydro facilities.
