Shinsei Bank Responds to Media Report

Tokyo (Monday, October 11, 2021) --- Shinsei Bank, Limited (hereinafter, "Shinsei Bank") responds to the media report (Nikkei electronic version) this evening which stated that "Shinsei Bank is close to reaching a decision on its opinion to oppose to the takeover-bid (hereinafter, the "TOB") by SBI Holdings". This report is not based on any facts announced by Shinsei Bank.

The board of directors of Shinsei Bank and the independent external directors council have been evaluating and reviewing the TOB for making an announcement of its opinion on the TOB. There are no facts in their statement that "Shinsei Bank is close to reaching a decision on its opinion to oppose to the TOB by SBI Holdings" as described in the report. Shinsei Bank will announce its decisions on the TOB related matters that should be disclosed in a timely manner.
