16 January 2019, Moscow - In 2018, Sberbank grew its small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) loan portfolio by 19.4%. As of 1 January 2019, the SME loan portfolio was RUB 1.616 tln. This is RUB 262.2 bln more than a year ago (as of 1 January 2018 it amounted to RUB 1.3534 tln).

Deputy Chairman of the Executive Board of Sberbank and Head of the Corporate and Investment Banking Business Block Anatoly Popov:

'Lending to SMEs is one of the bank's priorities. In 2018, we did a lot to simplify the processes for lending to this client segment and make financing more accessible, and thanks to this we delivered excellent results. I'd like to emphasise that our SME loan portfolio has not only grown over the past three years, but that also, the speed at which it grows increases every year.'

More than 30% (RUB 80 bln) of growth in 2018 was generated thanks to participation in subsidised lending campaigns, mainly those of the Russian Ministry of Agriculture and the Russian Ministry of Economic Development. As of 1 January 2019, RUB 210 bln (13%) of the SME loan portfolio was attributed to participation in subsidised lending.

In absolute figures, the biggest increase to the SME portfolio among Sberbank divisions - RUB 58.8 bln - was generated by the Moskovsky Bank.
