Sarytogan Graphite Ltd (ASX:SGA) MD Sean Gregory tells Proactive that maiden drilling is underway at the Kenesar Graphite Exploration Project in northern Kazakhstan.

The low-cost 4,000 metre drilling campaign is targeting EM anomalies consistent with graphitic-rich layers within the graphitic schist under shallow cover. The company hopes to replicate the exploration successes notched up at its namesake project also in Kazakhstan.

“The maiden drilling campaign at the Kenesar Graphite Exploration Project is an exciting time for the Company. This target has been carefully built from the ground up by Sarytogan geologists with reference to the regional geology and the compelling EM anomalies recently surveyed,” Gregory said.

The program will test the hypothesis of graphitic schist under shallow cover. If a discovery of this type could be made, it would be highly complementary to the premium micro-crystalline graphite at our flagship Sarytogan Graphite Project where the metallurgical test-work and Pre- Feasibility Study are progressing as a priority.”
