Top Notch SANDERSON FARMS EMPLOYEE NAMED AMONG MISSISSIPPI TOP PROFESSIONALS

Sanderson Farms' Corporate Cash Management Manager, Christy Holifield, has been named among the winners of Mississippi Business Journal's Top 50 Under 40 for 2020. Considered one of the state's most prestigious awards, it highlights individuals who have made significant contributions to Mississippi's overall economic progress.

'We are truly pleased to recognize and honor a great group of Mississippi's business and civic leaders under 40,' said Tami Jones, Mississippi Business Journal publisher. 'These deserving men and women have already proven themselves as high achievers and trend setters, and we have no doubt that many of these individuals will go on to even greater success in the years to come.'

The Mississippi Business Journal's Top 50 Under 40 recognizes 50 of the state's up-and-coming business leaders under the age of 40 who make significant contributions to economic progress at the state and local level. Of the 50 finalists, the group is narrowed down to the Top 10, and of those 10 finalists, the Top Person of the Year is selected. Sanderson Farms' own Christy Holifield was one of the few Mississippi professionals distinguished in the journal's Top 10 list this year.

'I am very honored to have been selected as a Top 10 recipient of the Top 50 Under 40 for the Mississippi Business Journal,' said Holifield. 'To be recognized and represent Sanderson Farms with 50 other individuals across the state as a top business leader, as well as a community leader, is truly an honor and a privilege.'

In the over 18 years that she has worked at Sanderson Farms, Holifield has excelled in each role she took on including feed mill clerk, beginning trainee, internal auditor and corporate cash management accountant. A graduate of Jones College in Ellisville, Mississippi and the University of Southern Mississippi, she earned an associate's degree and a bachelor's degree in accounting before pursuing the juris master degree she recently received from Florida State University specializing in financial regulations and business compliance.

Now a certified treasury professional and a three-time college graduate, Holifield is the first in her immediate family to receive a college degree, yet alone a professional certification, which she earned while working full-time and raising a family. She now volunteers her time to improve education within the state by serving as a member of the Jones College Business Advisory Board, which works to foster relationships between university representatives and business professionals from areas such as public accounting and banking.

Holifield is active in her community including volunteering for the Sanderson Farms Championship, graduating from Leadership Jones County and serving on Sanderson Farms' Relay for Life and American Heart Association teams. She also currently serves as the board secretary for the West Jasper School Board and holds leadership positions for multiple athletic organizations in her local community.
