The launching ceremony was attended by Vladislav Shapsha, Governor of Kaluga region, and Andrey Ryumin, Director General of PJSC Rosseti. The cumulative investment in the projects amounted to over 1.8 billion rubles.

The new Grid Control Center (GCC) provides real-time operational and technological management of grid facilities in the region, which supply electricity to about 1.1 million people. Their area of responsibility includes 156 supply centers with a total capacity of over 3 GVA, over 8,000 transformer substations, 32,300 km of cable and overhead power transmission lines.

The 110 kV Universitet substation was built specifically to connect the new campus of Kaluga branch of Moscow State Technical University named after N. E. Bauman where 3,000 students study. It will also provide electricity to consumers in nearby areas.

"I am glad that such a wonderful event is taking place on the eve of your professional holiday. Kaluga power engineers are, as always, at their best: they approach it with significant potential for the future, with a strong result. The regional Grid Control Center and a new substation have been put into operation. Today, together with Rosseti and Kalugaenergo, we are using the most up-to-date opportunities so that you - power engineers - control the situation in real time, and people receive a stable power supply. The time for troubleshooting any possible failures has decreased, and digitalization will allow us to implement new projects," Vladislav Shapsha emphasized.

Rosseti Group has taken an active part in the preparations for the celebration of the 650th anniversary of Kaluga: the Sports Palace and the new building of the Space Museum have been supplied with electricity, the lighting system in the central streets has been modernized. We are also ending the anniversary year with two major launches. New technologies applied in these projects will improve the efficiency of infrastructure management, which means the reliability and quality of power supply to consumers," Andrey Ryumin stated.

The GCC operation is organized on the basis of the domestic automated process control system, which enables dispatchers to monitor the state of grid facilities, analyze the power quality parameters, coordinate the work of emergency and repair teams.

110 kV Universitet substation with a capacity of 32 MVA is equipped with modern power and switching equipment. The power facility is fully automated, which allows remote control of the equipment operation from the new GCC.
