By BU Norway needs to save labour costs equivalent to 80 full-time employees (FTE) because of a significant drop in sales volume.
The main part of the savings will be made in production and sales.
"Due to a significant drop in sales volume we must take steps to adjust our costs," commented BU Norway Director Ingrid Tjøsvold.
The factories in Arna and Lierne will have to reduce labour costs. The Arna factory produces the dehydrated products that have been hit hardest by the reduced volume. Lierne is also facing a decline in volume in 2012 following the loss of product distribution in Norway's biggest retail chain, Norgesgruppen.
The sales organisation will undergo changes and efficiency improvements as a result of the declining volumes. Changes in the job content of sales positions will be carried out to ensure that the most important tasks, related to retail activities, receive high priority. Downsizing in sales will primarily be in administrative functions and, to a lesser degree, in operational functions.
