Ricardo has today announced that it has completed the asset purchase of a new technical facility, further expanding the company's development and testing capabilities for aftertreatment systems, gasoline, diesel, dual-fuel and natural gas powered engines, and fuel cells.

The 20,000 square foot facility reinforces Ricardo's leadership in aftertreatment test and development capabilities, while engineers at the centre add 25 years of catalyst expertise. Test facilities include accelerated catalyst hydro-aging test equipment, a synthetic gas reactor lab for rapid evaluation and modelling of aftertreatment components and systems under both steady-state and transient conditions, and fuel cell testing capabilities for solid oxide and proton exchange membrane fuel cells. The technology and know-how minimize the product development cycle, reduce cost and accelerate time to market. With the ever growing demand to reduce emissions and improve fuel economy, the combined aftertreatment and combustion expertise available at the new facility adds exceptional value to Ricardo's offerings in a region that is leading the country - and arguably the world - in low NOx and GHG emissions programmes and legislation.

"We are delighted to now have a facility in the heart of Silicon Valley," said Tom Apostolos, president of Ricardo, Inc. "The new Ricardo Santa Clara Technical Center expands our ability to serve our clients with world class aftertreatment engineering and testing capability, and leading edge fuel cell technology. In addition, we will leverage the location to expand our rapidly growing clean energy and connected and autonomous vehicle technology portfolio."
