Announcement to the Market
Renova Energia S.A. (RNEW11) ("Renova" or "Company"), the first company dedicated to the generation of alternative energy to be listed on the BM&FBOVESPA, informs its shareholders and the market in general that on February 21, 2013 it has formally petitioned ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency) to grant authorization for the construction of eight photovoltaic power plants with a total installed capacity of 241.92 MWp.The solar energy generation projects will be located in the southeast of Bahia. The plants will use polychrystalline silicon and thin film solar cells.
Renova completed its first solar generation project, in the distributed generation model, with an installed capacity of 25.65 kWp (Announcement to the Market of February 20, 2013). The Company has been investing in the commercialization of solar energy in the free market and believes a specific solar auction would stimulate the market in Brazil.
