BAU 2013, the world's leading trade fair for architecture, materials and systems was held last week in Munich, Germany. Ruukki also manned a stand at the fair and organised a breakfast meeting for the press.

Held since 1964, BAU is a huge event spread over 17 exhibition halls, with a total surface area of 180,000 square metres, equal to nearly 23 football fields. Around 2,060 exhibitors from 41 countries showcased their know-how in the construction business for some 240,000 visitors.

Although marketing digitalisation is rapidly becoming widespread and social media are a part of everyday life, this has not reduced the number of visitors to BAU. Interest in BAU is huge and even on the third day both corridors and stands were packed.

BAU attracts visitors from around the world, with designers and decision-makers accounting for a large share of the visitors. This year, the BAU trade fair attracted some 50,000 architects and building engineers, who consider it to be the world's most popular event of its kind. "Everyone who is anyone in the construction business must be seen here. If you're not here, you're nowhere," states sales manager Rainer Foster from Ruukki Deutschland among crowds of people.

Ruukki showcased Ruukki energy panel, Cor-Ten and Liberta solar façade products at BAU to attract customers to its stand.
