Pöyry has been awarded the technical support contract for construction of the
first metro line in Panama. The scope of services includes planning, technical
feasibility and cost estimation of the project. The value of Pöyry's services is
EUR 1.1 million.

The project was initiated by the Panama Government, whose primary goal is
construction of a secure, efficient and comfortable public transportation
system. The recently founded department "Secretaría del Metro de Panamá" will be
responsible for planning, building and operating the Panama Metro. The project
is financed by the Inter-American Development Bank (BID) and Cooperation Andina
de Fomento (CAF).

The project will be carried out in cooperation with Geoconsult S.A. and C&M
Asociados, S.C. Pöyry's services cover planning of the project, analysis of the
actual demand data, conceptual design of the first metro line, technical
specifications for bid requests and support to the client during selection of
the contractor. The services period is estimated to be nine months.
